20 Alimodian cops test positive for COVID

ILOILO – The police station in Alimodian town was temporarily closed. Twenty police officers tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Twenty-two cops were initially subjected to reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test, according to Vice Mayor Ian Kenneth Alfeche, chairman of the Alimodian COVID-19 Command Center.

The cops came in close contact with two inmates who tested positive for coronavirus, he said.

Most of the infected policemen were isolated at the municipal police station while others were home quarantined.

Close contacts of the 20 policemen have also been identified and they would be swabbed.  

Disinfection was also launched.

Currently, policemen were utilizing the ABC Hall of the local government unit to cater to the public’s police concerns.

Meanwhile, Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, sent a police augmentation team to Alimodian./PN
