20 fall in 24-hour antidrug police ops across WV

ILOILO City – In a single day of operations against illegal narcotics across Western Visayas, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) apprehended 20 individuals.

The operations, which spanned from the morning of July 3 to July 4, also led to the seizure of 1,030 grams of shabu worth approximately P7 million.

The day’s operations included 15 separate incidents, with the police capturing four high-value targets and 16 street-level drug dealers.

Brigadier General Jack Wanky, PRO-6 director, praised his team for their persistent efforts and success in curbing drug trafficking in the region.

“These operations underscore the unwavering commitment, sacrifice, and patience of our personnel in the fight against illegal drugs,” said Wanky.

He encouraged the police to maintain their momentum and continue collaborating with community members, whose tips have proven invaluable.

Contributions from various police units included the Iloilo Police Provincial Office arresting eight individuals and seizing drugs valued at P1.5 million.

The Bacolod City Police Office recorded the largest single operation, capturing two suspects and recovering 775 grams of shabu valued at P5.1 million in Barangay Singcang, Bacolod City.

The suspects, known by the aliases George (49 years old, of Barangay Poblacion, Murcia, Negros Occidental) and Dharryl (41 years old, of Olongapo City), are now facing charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Here’s the breakdown of contributions of the police offices:

* Iloilo Police Provincial Office – eight arrests; P1,500,000 drugs

* Aklan Police Provincial Office – one arrest; P4,000 drugs

* Capiz Police Provincial Office – two arrests; P3,500 drugs

* Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office – four arrests; P140,000 drugs

* Bacolod City Police Office – five arrests; P5,358,000 drugs

In addition to the day’s success, PRO-6 reported the arrest of 301 suspects and the seizure of 4,709 grams of shabu and 131 grams of marijuana during the month of June, with the illegal drugs valued at around P32 million.
