ILOILO City – A modernized jeepney or minibus fell on its side in Barangay Baguingin, Tigbauan, Iloilo yesterday. Twenty passengers were hurt.
The accident happened at around 7:40 a.m.
A tree branch suddenly fell on the minibus, hitting the windshield. The driver panicked and lost control, said Police Staff Sergeant Glenn Mark Abayon Tigbauan police station investigator.
The minibus (plate No. FAI-2867) was driven by Jeven Kate Tribunsay, 27, of Barangay 9, Tigbauan. It was bound for Iloilo City.
“Nag-swerve ang bus then natumba sa right side. Nagkarambola ang mga pasaheo sa sulod, amo to nagreklamo sila sang palanakit sang lawas nila,” Abayon said.
The injured passengers were brought to the Rep. Pedro Trono Medical District Hospital in Guimbal town.
The bus driver was detained at the Tigbauan police station./PN
