COMPETITION has and always will be a part of human existence. Pageantry and sports are the most common field of competition as one battles with the other.

One of the most talked competitions happening right now is the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The international football event currently held in Brazil has officially kicked off on June 12 and will continue running up until July 13. It is the second time for Brazil to host since the 1950 World Cup.

After advancing through a series of qualifying rounds since June 2011, 31 of the world’s best football teams are gathered in this prestigious football event, all for the glory of being called the world’s champion.

A total of 64 matches will be played in stadiums built and located in the 12 cities across Brazil.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup will be using the goal-line technology and the vanishing foam for free kicks for the first time as its newest features.

This year’s world cup is expected to be a tough battle amongst the best of the best and the superstars in the field of football. A little known trivia: all world champion teams since the first World Cup in 1930 including Brazil as the host country, has qualified for the finals. The champion teams include: Argentina, England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Uruguay.

Participating professional football players are definitely feeling a lot of mental pressure right now as they parade to the journey of bringing honor to their respective countries.

Despite the fact that football in the Philippines still has a long way to go for a slot in future World Cups, avid Filipino fans go out of their way to watch and follow the latest happenings in the hottest event in the world, betting which teams will prevail.
