2020-2021 NBA: Damion hands Warriors 1st win

Damion Lee drained a go-ahead triple as the Golden State Warriors pulled off a come-from-behind 129-128 win over Chicago Bulls in the 2020-2021 National Basketball Association (NBA) Season at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, United States on Sunday night (Monday in the Philippines).  

Trailing 128-126 following a jumper by Bulls’ Zach LaVine with five seconds left, Lee converted a top of the arc three-pointer to give the Warriors a 129-128 edge with 2.3 seconds left.

Lee finished the match with 12 points while Stephen Curry led the way with 36 points as the Warriors recorded their season’s first win after a 0-2 start.

Andrew Wiggins added 19 markers along with nine rebounds, Eric Paschall contributed 15 markers while Jordan Poole ended up with 10 for GSW.

The Warriors played catch up almost the entire match and were down 123-118 when Curry connected a triple, a layup and a three-point play to close the gap, 124-126, with 46 seconds left.

After a missed attempt from the Bulls, the Warriors were able to tie the score at 126-all on a tip-in by Kevon Looney with 16.9 seconds left. Chicago tasted the lead for the last time courtesy of LaVine before Lee delivered the winning blow for GSW.

Dallas Mavericks also notched their first win of the 2020-2021 NBA Season in style as they manhandled the Los Angeles Clippers, 124-73, at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, United States.

Luka Doncic only played 25 minutes and finished with 24 points while Josh Richardson added 21 markers. 

Facing Clippers without Kawhi Leonard, the Mavericks went to work early as they surged to a 36-13 opening quarter. The lead blew to 77-27 at the half.

In other results, Charlotte Hornets stunned Brooklyn Nets, 106-104, New York Knicks upset Milwaukee Bucks, 130-110, Cleveland Cavaliers dominates Philadelphia 76ers, 118-94, for a 3-0 start.

Moreover, New Orleans Pelicans outlasted San Antonio Spurs, 98-95, Orlando Magic repeated over Washington Wizards, 120-113, and Indiana Pacers escaped Boston Celtics, 108-107.
