‘2021 was all about teamwork vs COVID’

ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas of Iloilo City and Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. of Iloilo province both expressed satisfaction on the performance of their respective teams of frontliners and employees in the fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-190 this 2021.

The city mayor highlighted the importance and big contribution of having teamwork in efforts to fight the unseen enemy.

“Indi pwede nga isa lang ya ka tawo star, dasun ang tanan supporting lang. Importante tanan may teamwork. The Iloilo City COVID Team was meeting almost every day and napapanaog ta kag napapanaog ang aton mga cases,” Treñas emphasized.

From a high of 300 cases a day, the city is now recording either zero or one case a day or just less than 10 cases daily.

Nevertheless, the city mayor stressed it is not the time to be complacent. He said it will still go back to fact that “it is really important for people to be vaccinated otherwise bali-balik naman kita.”

“With the threat of Omicron, importante gid mapabakuna , mapa booster,” he added.

On his part, Defensor said he is satisfied with the performance of health workers of the province, the way they provided for the needs and services amid the pandemic.

He added he is also satisfied with the performance of department heads and employees in addressing the COVID-19 problem.

He cited that everything starts with the execution through the issuances of Executive Orders.

“It all starts there, ma-start gid kita sa execution – the Executive Order EO that we have and everything follows,” said Defensor./PN
