2,022 WV fugitives caught in 6 months

ILOILO City – A total of 2,022 fugitives in Western Visayas were apprehended in the first six months of 2018, data from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed.

Of these fugitives 250 were classified as “most wanted.”

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office had the most number of fugitives arrested at 642.

On the other hand, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office apprehended 389 wanted persons.

The number of arrested fugitives from January to July 2018 was higher than the 1,903 wanted persons caught in the same period last year.

According to Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao, regional police director, the 5.25 percent increase in apprehensions showed the PRO-6 was not only focused in the campaign against illegal drugs.

He expressed confidence that the arrest of fugitives would further improve Western Visayas’ peace and order situation.

Bulalacao recently disclosed that the crime volume in the region dropped by 45 percent.

From January to July, the PRO-6 recorded 16,148 crimes – way lower than the 29,127 reported in the same period in 2017.
