BACOLOD City – The 28th Panaad sa Negros Festival from April 15 to 21 generated P19,250,439.50 in revenues.
A significant contributor to the province’s economy, the annual “festival of all festivals” was participated by all 32 local government units in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City. It showcased the province’s rich culture and agricultural products.
Gov. Eugenio Lacson, however, said this year’s festival sales posted a 20 percent decline, or over P4 million lower than the P23,663,642.86 sales generated last year.
The governor attributed the drop to various factors, including changes in consumer behavior and external economic conditions.
Data from the provincial government showed that as of Monday, April 22, local government unit pavilions recorded the highest sales at P11,808,939.80. This was followed by the garden show with P4,461,985.20 revenue; food alley (P1,703,403.50); Provincial Veterinary Office (P870,230); trade fair (P264,550); and Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (P141,331).
