ILOILO City – During a week-long simultaneous police operation, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) apprehended 206 wanted persons and seized 102 firearms.
From Aug. 16 to 22, 192 operations were conducted against wanted persons, resulting in the arrest of 206 individuals, PRO-6 data showed.
In addition, the police got hold of 102 unloaded firearms and 17 explosives.
According to PRO-6 spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, the firearms were either surrendered or deposited for safekeeping due to unrenewed license.
“It’s better for gun owners to deposit their firearms with unrenewed licenses and homemade ones to avoid police operations and criminal cases,” said Malong.
The police are intensifying the campaign against wanted persons and loose firearms in preparation for next year’s national elections.
In the anti-drug campaign, the police conducted 31 operations, resulting in the arrest of 41 drug personalities.
Out of these operations, police officers seized 141.2 grams of shabu and 38.3 grams of marijuana, with an estimated standard drug price of P953,640.
In the campaign against illegal gambling, 56 operations were conducted and 157 bet collectors were caught. The amount of bet money confiscated was P23,495.
