ILOILO City – At least 22 persons were caught engaging in illegal gambling in Barangay Guzman-Jesena, Mandurriao district.

Police recovered 12 boxes containing spiders, P1,740 bet money and 10 sticks from Keven Paul Castegadoro, 27; Joenel Traigo, 32; Adrian Barangco, 41; Jared Tumas, 27; Leo Macabebe, 28; Mark Piñafiel; Kirck Vincent Pedrola, 23; John Allen Gatchon, 25; Rodney Villegas, 21; Julies Calubia, 19; Mark Ian Basug, 18; Julius Garido, 23; Rafa Joshua Paulin, 21; Donald Cuachon, 29; Russel Justine Teruel, 21; Russel John Ba-ad, 22; Jason Jayloni, 35; Richmond Almarante, 29; Rodolph Garnica, 26; Arthur Casipe, 29; Gabriel Navales, 28; and James Victoriano, 51.

They were caught in the act engaging in a “spider derby” on Wednesday, police said.


The suspects, who were brought to the Mandurriao police station, declined to give statements. They face charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602, which prescribes stiffer penalties on illegal gambling./PN
