ILOILO City – Internal cleansing in the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) in 2021 resulted to the dismissal from the service of 22 police officers.

Between January and December, 117 police personnel were charged administratively for various alleged violations.

Of these, 97 cases (82.9 percent) were already resolved. Twenty cases remain pending.

Of the resolved cases, 22 were unfavorable to the respondent cops. They were found guilty as charged and were thus ordered dismissed from the Philippine National Police.

All these axed policemen were Police Non-Commissioned Officers.

On the other hand, 23 policemen were meted the penalty of suspension while six were demoted.

Two other policemen were slapped with the penalty of forfeiture of salaries while four were reprimanded.

Meanwhile, 40 policemen charged administratively were exonerated.

PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo expressed hope that this 2022 no more police personnel would be charged administratively.

“We are urging our police officers to follow rules and regulations and avoid committing illegal acts or they will be sanctioned,” said Dongbo.

The goal of the PRO-6 internal cleansing, he said, is to mend the tarnished reputation of the police.

“Policemen must value their job,” Dongbo added.

Those who do good, he said, would be recognized.

“We are quick in giving recognition to deserving and hardworking police personnel but we are also quick to punish those who violate the law,” stressed Dongbo.

Dongbo was assigned to the PRO-6 just this November 2021. He vowed to bring back the value of discipline in the police.

“There will be no room for breach of discipline and misconduct,” Dongbo said. “Our uniform is a sacred symbol of professionalism.”

He appealed to the public to report irregularities involving the police./PN
