NEGROS Occidental – Twenty three more villages in Negros Occidental have been declared as drug-cleared by the Western Visayas Regional Oversight Committee on Dangerous Drugs.
This raises the number of drug-cleared barangays in the province to 197.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) chairs the regional oversight committee. The members are the Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Health, Philippine National Police, and local government units.
PDEA 6 Spokesperson Shey Tanaleon said that of the 23 additional drug-cleared villages in the province, three each are from Candoni, Ilog and Isabela; two barangays each in La Castellana, Sagay City, Victorias City, and Himamaylan City, and one barangay each in Sipalay City, Pontevedra, San Enrique, Silay City, Talisay City, and Valladolid.
Tanaleon added that as of October 9, a total of 3,175 barangays in the region have been declared drug-cleared by the regional oversight committee:
* Iloilo province – 1,579
* Antique – 588
* Capiz – 323
* Aklan – 316
* Negros Occidental – 197
* Iloilo City – 83
* Guimaras – 81
