ANTIQUE – The provincial government released financial assistance to 232 hog raisers affected by African Swine Fever (ASF) in Hamtic on Friday, June 30.
A total of P667,000 in Aid to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) was distributed to hog raisers from barangays Guintas, Lanag and Poblacion 5.
The financial assistance was channeled through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
“Gamay lang man dya nga kantidad pero dya patimaan kaninyo nga wara kamu dya napabay-an. Nabatyagan man namun ang inyo nga nabatyag. I-lubong nyo lang ang baboy nga napatay importante indi ninyo pagkan-on ang baboy nga may ASF”, Gov. Rhodora J. Cadiao said.
She also revealed that an additional P10 million is expected from the provincial government within the next 15 months to further support hog raisers.
This would also enable the allocation of funds from the Department of Agriculture and the Mayor’s office to provide more substantial assistance.
Hog raiser Angela Corpuz, 59, of Barangay Guintas, shared her experience of witnessing the deaths of all 17 of her pigs.
“Masakit, gusto mo maghibi hindi ikaw makahibi, gusto mo magluha hindi ikaw maka luha. Sobrang sakit sa dughan ang natabo kanamun, ubos gid and tanan,” said Corpuz.
