24-hour antidrug operations yield P8.2 million worth of ‘shabu’

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) said P8.2 million worth of suspected shabu was confiscated during the 24-hour operations executed by various police units from 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, to 5:59 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office seized the biggest volume of illegal drugs that reached an estimated value of P5.7 million, followed by Iloilo City Police Office with P2.4 million worth of illegal drugs recovered.

Also, 19 suspects were arrested from 13 operations across the region – four high-value targets and 15 street-level individuals.

Here is the breakdown of the arrests per unit:

* Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office – 12

* Iloilo City Police Office – six

* Bacolod City Police Office – one

All suspects are now under police custody. They are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
