ILOILO City – Twenty-four sachets of shabu were seized in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tagbac, Jaro district.

Police arrested Shiela Villeta, 40, of Barangay San Juan, Molo and partner Reo Carnaje, 27, of Barangay Tagbac, Jaro.

Operatives of the Molo police station and the Police Regional Office 6’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) recovered from the suspects 23 sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P150,000.

These were on top of one sachet of the same substance the suspects sold to undercover officers for P2,000 at around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 12, police said.

The suspects got their drug supply from Metro Manila and transported them via the port of Dumangas, Iloilo, according to Senior Inspector Kennith Bermejo, RDEU chief.

“We negotiated with them for two weeks after we learned that they ordered a huge amount of shabu from Metro Manila,” said Bermejo. “Carnaje is a new player. Villeta tapped him as her partner.”

Molo police conducted an operation against Villeta last year, said Senior Inspector Marlon Valencia, station chief.

But Villeta evaded arrest while her son got arrested and detained at the Iloilo City District Jail Male Dormitory in Barangay Ungka, Jaro. She temporarily stopped her trade until recently, Valencia said.

“She was one of the [suspected drug] suppliers in Molo,” Valencia said while admitting she was not in the district police’s high-value target list.

“We started transacting with her in Molo but they transferred to Jaro where we arrested them,” the officer said.

Both Villeta and Carnaje were detained at the Molo police station./PN
