ILOILO City – From January to Sept. 15, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) accounted for 2,411 wanted persons in Western Visayas.
At 1,196 arrests carried out, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) posted the most number of fugitives accounted, data from the regional police office showed.
The Iloilo PPO trailed the NOPPO with 492 arrests, followed by Capiz PPO (158), Bacolod City PO (138), Aklan PPO (115), Iloilo City PO (100), Antique PPO (83), and Guimaras PPO (55).
Other police units which also apprehended fugitives were the Regional Criminal Investigation and Detective Unit 6 (57) and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 (17).
Aside from the arrests, the PRO-6 also recorded 12 instances of voluntary surrender.
According to Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, regional police director, the arrest and/or surrender of fugitives would have a positive impact on the police’s anti-criminality drive.
“We will sustain our campaign against wanted persons. We will intensify our manhunt operations,” said Pamuspusan.
The ongoing community quarantine has not deterred policemen from running after fugitives, he stressed./PN
