BACOLOD City – A total of 2,413 students in the city have attended a symposium on teenage pregnancy recently.

The City Population Office conducted the series of symposiums that gathered Grade 7 to 12 students from five secondary schools in Bacolod.

These schools include the Domingo Lacson National High School in Barangay 12; Romanito Maravilla Sr. National High School in Barangay Estefania; Luisa Medel National High School in Barangay Tangub; Teofilo Gensoli National High School in Barangay Vista Alegre; and Mariano Medalla Integrated School in Barangay Pahanocoy.

City Population Office head Ernie Asoy said the symposiums were aimed at educating young people about adolescent health and development programs of their office.

Topics like adolescence, sexuality, gender, reproductive health, and sexually transmitted diseases were discussed in the symposiums.

Asoy said providing the students with the right information about these topics will help lessen the incidence of teenage pregnancy and teenage repeated pregnancy.

The City Population Office will also conduct the symposium in two more schools this September and another four schools in October. (With Bacolod City PIO/PN)
