ILOILO City – A total of 250 police personnel and anti-illegal drugs operatives of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) were subjected to an unscheduled drug testing yesterday.

“We want to show to the public that our police offices are drug-free,” said Police Colonel Martin Defensor, city police director.

The ICPO drug test started at 8 a.m. The policemen, including those from drug enforcement units and administrative officers, thought they were summoned for a meeting.

Personnel of the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) crime laboratory conducted the drug test. Results would be announced before the week is over, said Defensor.

“I hope we maintain the ICPO’s status as drug-free with no personnel testing positive,” he added.

Since becoming the city police director in 2018, Defensor said, not one city policeman failed drug tests be this unannounced or random.

For this latest drug test, those who will fail will be charged administratively, said Defensor./PN
