ILOILO – Over 2,600 employment opportunities will be up for grabs at the job and tourism fair of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO)-Iloilo at Casa Real de Iloilo on Aug. 29.
Francisco Heler Jr., PESO-Iloilo head, said 40 companies – 36 local and four overseas – will participate.
“May ara 1,736 job vacancies for local employment and 894 job orders for overseas employment,” Heler told Panay News.
Among the vacancies offered for local employment are easy-to-fill or in-demand jobs such as store crew, customer service representative, cashier, service crew, handler, warehouse associate, and for hotels, room attendant, concierge and stewarding.
For job orders for overseas employment, these are registered nurses for Saudi Arabia and the USA; painter and welder for Japan; butcher or cook for Croatia; and building worker or laborer for New Zealand.
The PESO job fair is in partnership with the Provincial Tourism Office headed by Gilbert “Bombette” Marin.
To accommodate high school and senior high school graduates, PESO-Iloilo also asked local companies if they could give them leeway during the hiring process.
“Ginhingyu naton nga i-adjust ang ila qualifications kay kalabanan damo sang high school nga wala sang obra kag indi man mabaton sa obra because most of the qualifications nga ginahingyu sang aton private companies amo ang college graduate. So amon ginhingyu nga kon ang position indi man kinahanglan ang college graduate, kon puede man nila ma-adjust,” Heler said.
Fourteen companies committed to give high school and senior high school graduates a chance.
Among the jobs available for them are store crew, merchandiser, service crew, delivery driver, salesman, and customer service representative.
For persons with disabilities (PWDs), three local companies are open to applicants, and one local company caters to senior citizens who are still fit to work.
Partner government agencies will set up booths, such as the National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, Social Security System, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Pag-IBIG, Philippine Statistics Authority, Department of Labor and Employment, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, among others.
Five local government units will offer “Libre Sakay” to the job fair venue. These are the towns of Barotac Viejo, Tigbauan, Guimbal, Zarraga, and Balasan.
Applicants are encouraged to be at the venue early and bring multiple copies of their résumés and a copy of their passport for overseas employment applicants.
Interested job seekers are reminded to pre-register at the PESO-Iloilo office on the fifth floor of the Iloilo provincial capitol or visit their municipal PESO./PN
