BACOLOD City – The recent greyhound operations and random drug tests conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) inside district jails in Negros Occidental yielded negative results.
A total of 289 inmates tested negative in various district jails in the province that underwent the drug test were all facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The following are the district jails in Negros Occidental that underwent greyhound operations and random drug tests:
*Metro Bacolod District Jail (MBDJ)-Male Dormitory Annex in Barangay Taculing
*Silay City Jail, Silay City, Negros Occidental
*Victorias City Jail, Victorias City, Negros Occidental
*Talisay City Jail, Talisay City, Negros Occidental
The drug-clearing operation is the offshoot of a memorandum of agreement between BJMP, PDEA-Negros Occidental and Bacolod City Police Office to launch a province-wide jail cleansing through search and seizure operations. (With a report from PDEA Region 6/PN)
