ILOILO City – Twenty-nine police personnel across Western Visayas were dismissed from the police service.
They were part of the 160 police officers slapped with administrative charges this year.
The 29 cops got the most severe punishment. Three others were demoted from their present ranks, 75 were suspended, two were meted salary forfeiture, and nine were reprimanded.
The 42 other charged police officers were exonerated.
“The speedy resolution of the administrative cases is part of our intensified internal cleansing,” said Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, regional police director.
Of the total 160 charged police officers, eight were Police Commissioned Officers while 152 were Police Non-Commissioned Officers.
According to Pamuspusan, Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel must have “the highest form of discipline at all times.”
“Erring and hard-headed personnel do not deserve to stay in the PNP organization. We will be more stringent in our internal cleansing,” he stressed.
Pamuspusan has long been stressing the importance of internal cleansing as part of efforts to regain the community’s trust and confidence.
“I assure the men and women of PRO-6 that I will not demand from you those which I am not willing to do myself,” said Pamuspusan in June 2019 when he formally assumed as the region’s top cop.
Prior to his Western Visayas assignment, Pamuspusan was the chief of the PNP Headquarters Support Service in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Pamuspusan, the 34th director of the PRO-6, belonged to Philippine Military Academy’s Class “Maringal” 1988./PN
