ILOILO – The job vacancies and job orders to be made available for the two-day job fair of the provincial government’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) on Dec. 7 and 8 reached 29,000 as of Nov. 7.
Of these job vacancies, 23,823 are for overseas employment.
Among the workers that participating employers are seeking for overseas deployment are nurses, engineers and construction workers.
For local employment, among the employees wanted are sales clerks.
The number of jobs up for grabs could still increase, said PESO manager Francisco Heler Jr.
PESO targets to invite 150 companies to participate in the job fair. As of No. 7, 111 companies already confirmed their participation.
Of these 111 companies, 21 are deploying workers abroad.
For the Dec.7 job fair, participating companies are the following:
* overseas recruitment agencies
* business process outsourcing
* hospitals
* banks/microfinance
* logistics
* real estate
* government agencies
For the Dec. 8 job fair, the participating companies are the following:
* retail/wholesale
* manufacturing
* food service
* car companies
* hotels, and others
The two-day job fairs will have two venues – provincial capitol ground and Casa Real (old capitol building).
Heler urged job hunters to bring the necessary documents such as certificate of employment, clearances such as those from the National Bureau of Investigation, police and barangay; passport if applying for overseas jobs, transcript of records and resumé.
During the two-day job fair different national government agencies would be setting up help desks such as the Commission on Audit, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Philippine Statistics Authority, National Bureau of Investigation, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and Social Security System.
The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. and Professional Regulation Commission have also been invited to set up help desks, said Heler.
A pre-registration is currently ongoing at the PESO office.
Last year, PESO managed to help find employment to 5,577 Ilonggos./PN
