ILOILO – The general public (persons 49 years old and younger) is not yet allowed to avail themselves of second booster shoots of the vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to Iloilo Provincial Health Office (IPHO) chief Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares- Quiñon, only the following have been given the greenight by the Department of Health to receive second COVID-18 booster shots:
* Health workers
* Senior citizens
* Persons with co-morbidities (immunocompromised)
* Persons with co-morbidities (non-immunocompromised)
* 50 to 59 years old
Specifically, not yet allowed for second booster shots are those 18 to 49 years old without co-morbidities, 12 to 17 years old with comorbidities (immunocompromised pedia and non-immunocompromised pedia), rest of 12 to 17 years old, and five to 11 years old.
“Sin-o bala ang puede maka-second booster? Tanan nga health workers, senior citizens and 60 years old and above, tanan nga may co-morbid factors kag immunocompromised, tanan nga may comorbid factors but non-immunocompromised, and tanan nga 50 to 59 years old kay high risk sila,” said .
As for the first booster shots, Quiñon said all can avail themseles of it except the five to 11 years olds.
As of Aug. 8, 1,269,945 individuals in the province (86.88 percent) were deemed fully vaccinated.

For the second booster shot, 8,465 individuals (or 0.58 percent) have received theirs, IPHO data showed./PN
