3 arrested in Panay for ‘illegal fishing’

ILOILO City – A ship captain and his two crewmen were arrested for illegal fishing in the waters of Panay, Capiz.

The following suspects were detained at the lock-up cell of Panay police station on Jan. 23:

* Joseph Alcazaren

* Reynaldo Bulgar

* Victor Almorin.

Alcazaren was the captain of F/B Raffy.

Panay policemen and personnel of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources apprehended the fishing boat around 5:15 p.m.

The fishermen were using prohibited active gears, police said, in violation of Municipal Ordinance No. 0302, series of 2003.

Ten kilos of fish were recovered from the suspects./PN
