BACOLOD City – The city government has given three barangays five days to liquidate the funds for last year’s MassKara Festival.
The barangays were participants of the Electric MassKara Dance Competition.
“Kon indi sila kahingagaw mag-liquidate indi na sila pwedi ka join,” said Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Tourism chair Councilor Jason Villarosa.
Meanwhile, the councilor confirmed that all participating barangays in the Street Dance and Arena Competition had been cleared.
There were 17 participating barangays in the Street Dance and Arena Competition, and each received a P200,000 subsidy, while there were 15 barangays in the Electric MassKara Dance Competition, and each received P150,000.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez disclosed that the city would limit participants in the Street Dance and Arena Competition to 10 barangays only to increase their financial assistance.
The Bacolod Yuhum Foundation, organizer of the 2022 MassKara Festival, reported incurring losses reaching P6 million. This year, it eyes to lessen the activities and shorten the days of the celebration./PN
