BACOLOD City – Three motorcycle enthusiasts, all residents of this city, will attempt to make a Philippine record of covering 7,000 kilometers (nautical miles not included) spanning major roads of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in just 12 days.
Russell Ban, Christian Aguirre and Jason Tupas started their “epic journey” dubbed “Lakbayin ang Pilipinas: The Riders’ Pilgrimage,” on April 10. There was a send-off ceremony at the Bacolod City Government Center.
They would wrap up their journey on April 22.
The loop started and would end in Bacolod City, or their Kilometer Zero, covering at least 21 provinces.
In his letter to the city government, Ban said they were attempting to loop the Philippine archipelago with the hope to promote local tourism and for the possibility of Bacolod City earning the title, “Riders’ Capital of Western Visayas.”
Ban said their audience and followers included 82,000 registered motorcycles in Bacolod, all bike clubs in the country whose members are monitoring them through social media, and local government units./PN
