ILOILO City – A police patrol car figured in an accident in Barangay Luca, Ajuy, Iloilo yesterday. Three police officers and two inmates were injured.

Patrol car driver Patrolman Kim Ryan Magcuyao and passengers Patrolman Erwin Abaring and Patrolman Ermelito Aquino sustained bruises and minor injuries on the body.

The two inmates, Rey Aguilar and Dexter Baldia, also got injured after the mishap around 11:30 a.m.

They came from the Regional Trial Court in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo for a court hearing for the murder cases of Aguilar and Baldia.

The three policemen were all assigned at the municipal police station of Balasan, Iloilo.

They were on their way back to the station when Aquino lost control of the patrol car. The vehicle flipped on its side after its right back tire blew up, according to Police Captain Samuel Vipinosa, Ajur police chief. 

“They sustained minor injuries on the body. They are now safe. The patrol car, meanwhile, incurred damage,” Vipinosa said.

The victims were brought to the Jesus Culmenares District Hospital and were later released after receiving medical treatment./PN
