ROXAS City – It will be a three-cornered fight for the gubernatorial post in Capiz as the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the May 13, 2019 midterm elections ended Wednesday.
Reelectionist Gov. Antonio del Rosario will be up against Joel Longares and Elmer Villasis.
Longares, a businessman, ran for governor in 2013 but lost. His vice running mate is Dr. Gilson Alabaña.
Running for the Provincial Board (PB) member positions under the Longares-Alabaña tandem are (for 1st District) Ian Alba Perez, Jose Escolin Chan Jr. and Vicente Ferrer, and (for 2nd District) Ma. Emile Ardivilla, Maria Dee Lacson and Teodoro Lopez.
They filed their COCs yesterday at the Commission on Elections provincial office.
Villasis also led his group called Pederalismo Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS) in filing their COCs yesterday.
Villasis will run with Ricardo Basco as his vice gubernatorial candidate.
Their PB candidates for 1st District were Nerizza Azares, Ledenila Unlayao, Amy Denaga.
Meanwhile, Ruth So-Chan and Marcelo Barruela Jr. will run against reelectionist piz 1st District Representative Emmanuel Billones./PN
