ILOILO – For three days beginning today, some 350 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons and councilors are gathering for a provincial congress at a hotel on General Luna Street, Iloilo City.
According to SK provincial federation president Ma. Angelica Bianca Requinto, the congress’ theme is “Nagkakaisang SK Para sa Tunay na Pagbabago.”
It should unite SK officials, she stressed.
Invited resource persons are from the Department of Interior and Local Government, National Youth Commission and Commission on Audit.
Requinto said the SK provincial congress would come up with a manifesto urging government agencies concerned to release guidelines on SK financial transactions because youth leaders must be guided regarding this concern.
Mandatory training for SK secretaries and treasurers would also be pushed, she added.
Delegates may also back a proposed bill institutionalizing the benefits and privileges (civil service eligibility, insurance, honorarium, etc.) of SK officials in addition to those stated in Republic Act 10724 (SK Reform Law)./PN
