ILOILO City – Over 1.2 million Western Visayans are being targeted for inoculation against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the three-day national vaccination drive from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.
Dubbed as “Bayanihan Bakunahan,” the national campaign coinciding with Bonifacio Day on Nov. 30 aims to vaccinate 15 million individuals in three days.
According to Dr. Bea Camille Natalaray, DOH-6 medical officer and spokesperson, a total of 1,278,777 individuals in Region 6 were to be vaccinated, with a daily target of 426,259.
“Gina-encourage naton ang aton eligible population aged 18 years old and above and 12 to 17 years old nga magpabakuna as contribution sa aton family kag community against COVID-19,” said Natalaray.
The regional health department urged those who want to get vaccinated to register with their respective local government units or rural health units.
Here are the targets set by each province and highly urbanized city:
* Aklan – 79, 521
* Antique – 115, 217
* Capiz – 133,576
* Guimaras – 28, 699
* Iloilo province – 338, 716
* Negros Occidental – 516, 807
* Bacolod City – 66,171
Iloilo City was not included in the list because it has already reached a 119 percent vaccination accomplishment (first dose coverage), Natalaray noted.
Nevertheless, she said, the city will continue its regular vaccination activities.
Natalaray said there would be at least 530 vaccination sites and 436 vaccination teams in Western Visayas during the vaccination days.
The regional office is also looking for volunteers to augment the vaccination teams.
“Since this activity is whole of society and whole of government effort, we are asking for volunteers for the national vaccination days,” said Natalaray.
The volunteers will serve as health screeners, vaccinators, post-vaccination monitors, health educators, registration personnel, encoders, and data consolidators./PN
