ROXAS City – A collision involving a pickup truck and three motorcycles resulted in the deaths of three individuals on Arnaldo Boulevard, Barangay Baybay, in this city.
Two others are in critical condition as of this writing.
The fatalities in the accident that transpired around 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, were Joshua Doronio, 18, of Barangay East Villaflores, Maayon town; Cedric Andrei Baes, 16, of Barangay Poblacion Tabuc, Panay town; and Justine Deneo Villareña, 16, of Barangay Chiquito in the same municipality.
Joshua Albert Lanado, 19, and Joshua Burata, 17, both from Panay, remain under intensive care at a local hospital.
According to Roxas City Police, the victims were traversing the road from Barangay Baybay toward the city proper when an allegedly speeding pickup truck hit the motorcycles from behind.
Initial police investigations showed that pickup truck driver Jerex Diawara, 30, of Katipunan Village in this city’s Barangay Lawaan, was under the influence of alcohol.
Diawara sustained no injuries and is currently under police custody./PN
