3 face raps for ‘gun ban breach’

ILOILO City – Three more persons face charges for violation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.

The following were arrested on Day 2 (Jan. 10) of the gun ban:

* 30-year-old Joven David of Barangay Laserna, Nabas, Aklan – nabbed at 7 p.m. outside his house for possessing a 19-inch bolo

* 22-year-old RD Elado of Barangay Calumpang, Molo, Iloilo City – arrested near their house; he yielded a knife; he was detained at the Molo police station

* 37-year-old Arnold Sara of Barangay Pamul-ogan, Cabatuan – caught in Barangay Tupol, Cabatuan, Iloilo at around 11:30 p.m.; neighbors complained him for alleged indiscriminate firing; cops recovered a .38 revolver with six ammunition

On Jan. 9, the first day of the election period, 21-year-old Christopher Gaisen of Sitio Bunga, Barangay Orong, Kabankalan City was arrested in Barangay 9, also in Kabankalan; he yielded a .38 revolver at a checkpoint at around 10:45 p.m.

“Wala kita nagkulang sa pagpanawagan nga we strictly implement the Comelec gun ban in relation to the May 2022 elections,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, information officer of the Police Regional Office 6.

Sharp or bladed objects are covered by the Comelec gun ban, too./PN
