ILOILO City – The Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) arrested three drug suspects in Barangay San Vicente, Jaro district.
Operatives recovered 67 sachets of suspected shabu valued at P70,000, the P1,000 buy-bust money and drug paraphernalia.
Arrested around 6 p.m. on Thursday were Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz district residents Mil Anthony Altas, 20; Mary Con Entreguena, 20; and Christine Jane Barranco of Barangay San Julian, Janiuay, Iloilo.
According to Police Captain Marc Valles Dado, RDEU chief, Altas was the operation’s main target.
“Limited info lang binibigay niya (Altas) pero according sa kanya binabagsakan lang siya at ‘yung tao is from Bacolod City,” said Dado.
Altas was a nephew of drug suspect Andrew Altas who died in a police operation in Barangay Tanza-Esperanza, City Proper last June 25, 2018.
“Actually matagal na nating naririnig na engaged s’ya sa illegal drugs under the umbrella of his uncle at sa medyo bigatin na boss nila na si Atty. (Edeljulio) Romero,” Dado said.
Romero was himself shot to death by unidentified armed men in Roxas City last Sept. 28, 2018 a day after appearing in the court hearing of a drug-accused client there.
Altas, Entreguena and Barranco, detained at the Jaro police station after their arrest, face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
