ANTIQUE – Three separate grass fire incidents broke out in Antique’s capital town, San Jose de Buenavista, on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-San Jose first received a call of a grass fire in Barangay Funda-Dalipe, particularly behind the barangay hall.

Burning garbage that has spread through the dried leaves and grasses was reportedly the cause.

Two fire trucks responded to the incident.

A few minutes later, BFP-San Jose received another fire call in Barangay San Fernando near the compound of a certain Sammy Jaro.

The blaze, fortunately, did not spread to nearby houses.

The third call the local firefighters responded to was in Barangay 1, particularly at the back of Antique National School’s premises.

It is believed that the cause was an unextinguished cigarette.

Here, the fire authorities urged residents to be careful and mindful at all times./PN
