ROXAS City – The Philippine National Police-Maritime Command (PNP-MARICOM) apprehended three individuals suspected of using dynamite to catch fish on Zapatos Gamay Island in Roxas City.

The arrested were identified as Joseph Ado, 40, of Jintotolo Island, Masbate City, owner and captain of the fishing boat; Benny Capacio, 31, of Barangay Bancal, Carles, Iloilo, boat crew; and Bejie Aninang, 44, of Barangay Agsirab, Dumarao, Capiz.

During the operation on Saturday, Oct. 14, authorities seized the following:

* motorized banca with an estimated market value of P150,000

* 20 improvised explosives stored in glass bottles

* 19 improvised blasting caps with safety fuses

* fishing paraphernalia valued at P20,000, and

* 15 kilograms of fish worth P2,500.

The explosive devices were handed over to the Provincial Explosives and K-9 Unit in Capiz for further examination.

Meanwhile, the arrested persons remain under the custody of the PNP-MARICOM./PN
