BACOLOD City – Two female boxers and a lone male will represent Negros Occidental in the PLDT-ABAP National Championship in Digos City, Davao Del Sur.
The tournament is from July 1 to 7.
The three are sisters Sheila Mae and Sarah Jean Mag-usara of Escalante City and Crisan Paul Diacumos of Cadiz City.
Diacumos Will fight in the light flyweight (49 kilograms), said Angel “Nonong” Verdeflor, president of the Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines (ABAP) Western Visayas.
The fourth boxer, Jordan Bautista of Binalbagan, Negros Occidental was dropped from the lineup for failure to report to his training.
The three-man boxing team of Negros Occidental will be accompanied by coaches Raul Camento of Sagay City and Jerry Gentilezo of Candoni.
Qualified boxers in different weight categories from other local government units (LGUs) will also converge at the Digos City gym.
Eight-time world boxing division champion Manny Pacquiao is sponsoring the event.
The tournament is in partnership with the Davao del Sur provincial government headed by Gov. Claude Bautista
