ROXAS City – Three women were arrested for illegal gambling in Sitio Arcabalo, Barangay Lawaan, police said.
They were the 30-year-old Jessica Bauson, 58-year-old Merlita Bueno and 52-year-old Vilma Amangca – all residents of Sitio Arcabalo, a police report showed.
Bauson, Bueno and Amangca were caught playing the card game tong-its around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Officers from the Roxas City police station were patrolling the area when they chanced upon the three women.
A deck of playing cards, P146.25 gambling money, three chairs, and a table were recovered.
The women were detained at the Roxas City police station lockup facility.
Charges for violating Presidential Decree 1602, which prescribes stiffer penalties on illegal gambling, will be filed against them./PN
