ILOILO City – A feud between two sakada families left three members wounded in Barangay Calaigang, San Rafael, Iloilo.
On Tuesday night, the following were taken to the Barotac Viejo District Hospital: Rommel Barbecho, 26, and elder brother Rofer, 32; and Ariel Arros, 56. They were all workers at a sugarcane plantation.
Around 10:30 p.m., according to Inspector Ruben Perra, San Rafael police chief, Arros, his two sons Arvin and Archie, and Michael Toreverde clashed with the Barbechos.
From what the police so far gathered, the Arroses accused the Barchechos of badmouthing their sugar plantation employer.
“There was hacking and shooting,” said Perra.
Ariel Arros shot Rommel Barbecho on the left thigh and Rofer Barbecho on the right shoulder, said Perra.
Roy Barbecho, 36, the eldest of the brothers, hacked Arros’ his right hand then fled.
As of this writing, Roy’s whereabouts were unknown./PN
