ILOILO City – Three women drug suspects arrested early this week did not have links to any detained drug personality at the Iloilo District Jail (IDJ), according to Senior Inspector Abner Zamora, jail warden.
He denied reports that detainee Ken Mark Pineda was giving instructions to the women.
“It is impossible for them to have any communication with Pineda. They did not even have any record in our logbook to have visited the prison facility,” said Zamora.
The warden said he confronted Pineda about the latter’s alleged illegal drug transactions but the detainee denied ever meeting or knowing the women.
“Hugot man amon security sa mga visitors,” added Zamora.
IDJ is in Barangay Nanga, Pototan, Iloilo.
The jail warden of the Iloilo District Jail (IDJ) in Nanga, Pototan, Iloilo has denied reports that there were illegal drug transactions inside of the jail.
Jennie Bee Goriona, 37, and Vivien Sian, 37, were arrested in Barangay Benedicto, Jaro district here on Sunday. Shabu worth P1.1 million was seized from them.
The other woman drug suspect, 38-year-old Susan Sobrepeña, was collared in Barangay San Pedro, Molo district hours after the two were apprehended. Fifty sachets of shabu worth around half a million pesos were recovered from Sobrepeña.
The three women belonged to one drug group, according to Senior Superintendent Christopher Tambungan, deputy regional director for operations of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
The assistant regional director for administration of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Region 6, Superintendent Gilbert Peremne, meanwhile, denied the alleged illegal drug transactions at the Iloilo City District Jail – Male Dormitory in Barangay Ungka, Jaro.
All jail visitors are being inspected thoroughly, he stressed, and they are barred from bringing in cell phones.
“Even our jail personnel are prohibited from bringing their cellular phones inside,” said Peremne.
Last week, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 6 claimed it was business as usual for drug personalities detained at the Ungka jail facility.
From their cells they continue to direct the operation of their minions outside, revealed Atty. Gil Pabilona, PDEA-6 director, at the joint meeting of the Iloilo City Peace and Order Council and Iloilo City Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
“The illegal drugs supply in Iloilo City will not stop unless those people inside the jail will stop directing their people outside what to do,” stressed Pabilona.
According to the PDEA-6 chief, this modus was being practiced in other prison facilities of the BJMP./PN
