3 WV players joins Jr. NBA-PH All-Stars team in China event

MANILA – Three Western Visayas-based players were chosen to be part of the Jr. NBA / Jr. WNBA Philippines All-Stars squad that travelled for the Jr. NBA Experience in Shanghai, China on Thursday.

Nathan Jundana of Bacolod Tay Tung High School and John Lester Amagan of St. Robert’s International Academy of Iloilo were among the eight Jr. NBA selected while Gin Kayla Huelar of the University of St. La Salle was part of the eight Jr. WNBA picked.

The Jr. NBA, the league’s global youth basketball participation program for boys and girls, teaches fundamental skills, builds character, and promotes active lifestyles of Filipinos nationwide.

Also part of the Jr. NBA squad are Prince Alao of San Beda University; Ethan Alian of La Salle Greenhills; Seven Gagate of Chiang Kai Shek College; Christian Mesias of Jose Maria College of Davao; Kim Tamayo of National University; and Rhon Telles of St. Anthony de Carmelli Academy of Cavite.

In Jr. WNBA squad, the contingents are Madelyn Flores of Bukidnon National High School; Aishe Solis of Corpus Christi School in Cagayan De Oro; Pauline Valle of Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School; Christine Venterez of Baguio City National High School; Marielle Vingno of Escuela de Sophia of Caloocan Inc.; Amber Esquivel; and Kyla Mataga of De La Salle Zobel.

The eight Jr. NBA and eight Jr. WNBA All-Stars were rewarded with a unique, overseas NBA experience together with fellow Jr. NBA All-Stars from Southeast Asia after topping the Nationals last May.

Aside from training camps, the chosen players will also geot a chance to watch the NBA preseason match between Dallas Mavericks and Philadelphia 76ers./PN
