MANILA – Three Western Visayas-based volleyball players will spearhead the Philippine women’s volleyball team that will compete in the 2019 Asean School Games starting today in Semarang, Indonesia.
Talisay City, Negros Occidental native Shaira Jardio of National University Lady Bullpups has been tapped as main libero for the Philippine team to be handled by Regine Diego.
Jardio, who has represented Western Visayas and the National Capital Region in the Palarong Pambansa, said she was thankful to be given the opportunity to fly the country’s colors in the international stage.
“Before, I was only representing my region in the Palarong Pambansa. Now I am about to represent the country in the Asean School Games.”
She added: “Not everyone is given this opportunity so I promise to give my best to help our team win in Indonesia. I am also fortunate because my teammates here are also my teammates in NU so there is not much adjustment for me.”
