BACOLOD City – A three-year-old boy burned to death inside a house in Barangay 6, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, a police report showed.
Police identified the victim as Vincent Paragsa, who was left inside the house after fire hit the area around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to Senior Fire Officer 2 Marilou De La Cruz, an unattended lighted candle in an abandoned house which the police said was used as a drug den was the cause of the blaze.
The houses in the area were made of light materials – the reason the fire spread quickly.
It was not immediately clear what time a “fire out” was declared.
Properties worth P150,000 were lost after the incident, the Bureau of Fire Protection estimated.
The fire left 41 houses totally destroyed and six house partially damaged, affecting 47 families or a total of 179 individuals./PN
