ROXAS City – Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) has set up 30 checkpoints at various locations in the province as part of the security measures for the upcoming May midterm elections.
“We will continue intensifying checkpoints and other police operations in the province to ensure orderly and fair polls,” said CPPO director Colonel Canilo Fuentes.
According to the Provincial Election Monitoring Action Center, 19 gun violators were already nabbed via checkpoints or police operations from Jan. 13 to April 25 this year.
Fuentes emphasized that only members of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines and other law enforcement agencies are authorized to carry firearms during the election period.
He also warned PNP personnel not to violate Commission on Elections’ existing rules particularly the implementation of poll gun ban. (With a report from PIA/PN)
