ILOILO – “I dos” were exchanged between 30 couples in Janiuay town on Monday, Feb. 12, ahead of the Valentine’s Day celebration.
The local government unit of Janiuay, headed by Mayor Paulino Parian, together with the Municipal Civil Registrar Office, organized the mass wedding at the municipal astrodome.
This is also in line with the celebration of the 34th Civil Registration Month, with the theme “CRVS: The Future of Seamless Service.”
Analisa Cornelio, officer-in-charge of the Municipal Civil Registrar Office, along with Donna Rose I. Sequio, Statistical Specialist II of Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Iloilo, and Nelyn C. Huyong, PBRAP Registration Agent of PSA-Iloilo, witnessed the event along with the elected public officials of Janiuay.
Parian served as the solemnizing officer for the ceremony.
According to the local government, organizing a mass wedding ceremony is a free and cost-effective effort to help couples who have been living together but are yet to be married./PN
