SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has released an amount of P1.080 million as cash grants to the 307 indigenous people (IPs) living in Valderrama, Antique.
According to DSWD Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) provincial operations officer Jeffrey Gabucay yesterday, the IPs are beneficiaries of the modified conditional cash transfer, which was released on March 25 to 27 at the Valderrama Municipal Covered Gym.
“We released the cash grants to the IP beneficiaries through their cash cards using the Point of Sale Terminal,” he said.
With the cash grants, the beneficiaries, who came from the eight villages of the said town, may now use the money to buy necessary goods in the time of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak.
Meanwhile, Gabucay said that they are asking other 4Ps beneficiaries to wait for a while as DSWD’s cash grants for the month of November to December 2019 are expected to be released on April 4.
DSWD is still studying on how to release the cash grants during the threat of the COVID-19.
“In Antique, there are 28,000 regular Pantawid beneficiaries,” he said.
Gabucay added that the processing for the release of the cash grants to the regular 4Ps beneficiaries may further be delayed due to the threat of the said virus.(With a report from PNA/PN)
