BACOLOD City – Thirty-one couples from E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental exchanged vows at the town’s public plaza on February 14.
Mayor Marvin Malacon administered the annual mass wedding, spearheaded by the Municipal Civil Registrar’s Office, as part of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) activities for the Philippine Statistics Month, specifically for the Civil Registration Month celebrated every February.
The mayor underscored the indispensable role of parents in raising responsible children who will later become productive adults and make up a loving and caring community.
Local Civil Registrar Mercedes II Recla said each Saraviahanon couple received a sack of rice from the mayor, and grocery items from Sangguniang Bayan members.
The local government also gave special awards to the following:
* Virgilio Ramis, 55, and Ellen Gallego, 49, of Barangay Tabigue – oldest couple
* Gerald Articulo and Jeanny Bernil – best in wedding attire
* Rockwill Papa and Michaela Guinabo – early birds
* Rockwill Papa and Michaela Guinabo – longest kiss
* Jeven Gaco and Erika Brabangco – best in pre-nuptial shoot (at Tomongtong Mangrove Eco-Trail)./PN
