31 houses in Concepcion, Iloilo on lockdown

ILOILO – Thirty-one houses in Sitio Dadoy, Barangay Nipa, in Concepcion, Iloilo were placed on surgical lockdown on May 29, after the death of a COVID-19 positive patient who was a resident of the area.

According to Mayor Raul Banias, the patient was brought to the Sara District Hospital on May 27 due to pneumonia.

The patient was given a swab test where results showed he was positive for the virus. He died on the same day, May 28.

ā€œWe have a kasimanwa nga na-admit sa Sara District Hospital sang May 27 because of pneumonia, gin-swab sa Sara District Hospital for RT PCR and results that was released yesterday showed that he is covid positive. The patient died and was buried immediately,ā€ Banias said.

The mayor ordered the lockdown of the 31 houses in order for the Municipal Health Office (MHO) staff to conduct contact tracing.

The local government unit (LGU) will distribute food packs to the affected households.

Banias ordered the barangay officials, barangay tanods, and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to monitor the area 24/7.

He also advised all residents outside the affected area to refrain from going out of their homes unless for important reasons.

As of Saturday, May 30, a total of 177 COVID-19 cases in Concepcion have been confirmed, with 52 still active, 124 recovered, and one dead./PN
