31 policemen dismissed from service

ILOILO City – Thirty-one police officers across Western Visayas have so far been dismissed this year for various administrative offenses.

They were part of the 190 policemen slapped with complaints from June 2019 to April 30 this year, data from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed.

On the other hand, 33 charged policemen have so far been cleared.

The 31 dismissed police officers were all Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCO).

Three other policemen were demoted, 114 were suspended, five were meted a penalty of salary forfeiture, and four were reprimanded.

Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, PRO-6 director, said the internal cleansing of the regional police is a continuing process.

“We will be adding more teeth to our campaign against erring personnel. The police organization is determined to drive away erring cops from its ranks,” said Pamuspusan.

This June 27 would be the first anniversary of Pamuspusan ‘s appointment to the PRO-6 directorship. During the turnover ceremony last year, he vowed to continue the internal cleansing in the PRO-6 started by his predecessor, Police Brigadier General John Bulalacao.

“I assure the men and women of PRO-6 that I will not demand from you those which I am not willing to do myself,” said Pamuspusan whose last assignment was as chief of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Headquarters Support Service in Camp Crame.

The police general also stressed the importance of transparency in police fund management and procurement of equipment, and good police-community relations./PN
