32 WV barangays cited for good governance

ILOILO City – A total of 32 barangays in Western Visayas have been recognized as national passers of the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB), according to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The official list of passers was announced by the DILG Region 6 on February 12.

The SGLGB program is a performance assessment and recognition system that highlights barangays excelling in key governance areas. It aims to encourage continuous improvements in the delivery of public services, emphasizing integrity and performance as crucial elements of local autonomy and development.

DILG extended its congratulations to barangay officials, staff, and entire communities for their commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence in public service.

In a statement, DILG-6 said the awardees set a “gold standard” in local governance and for serving their communities with integrity and efficiency.

“The recognition reflects your dedication to upholding good governance principles and providing quality services to your constituents,” the statement said.

Additionally, DILG-6 expressed gratitude to the Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (MLGOOs) and DILG Provincial Officers for their crucial role in conducting transparent assessments and for empowering local government units (LGUs) to sustain high standards in governance.
