ANTIQUE – A total of 3,204 indigent senior citizens in Pandan, Antique received their social pensions for the first semester, from January to June, of this year.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 6 together with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office held the payout on April 13.
DSWD-6 released a total of P9,612,000 for the social pension of senior citizens from the 34 barangays of Pandan.
Each senior citizen gets P3,000 or P500 per month.
The stipend aims to augment daily subsistence and other medical needs of indigent senior citizens.
According to Gretchen Anne Orbista, the focal person of the DSWD-6, those qualified to avail of a social pension are 60 years old and above, sick, disabled, and without other pension insurance such as the Social Security System and Government Service Insurance System, as well as without regular support from family members or a regular source of income.
As of March 29, out of the 385,954 target beneficiaries for the region this year, 168,735 recipients, or 44 percent, received their social pension.
